Ute, Iowa – Coxswain Robert D. Schlie, U.S.N. arrived home and will spend eight days with his wife and son, Bobby, whom he had never seen. He has been in the Pacific on a Liberty ship. He wears the American and Asiatic Pacific theater ribbon with four battle stars.

Robert Donald Schlie was born June 5, 1924 to Henry and Clara Davis Schlie. He died Sept. 11, 1970 and is buried in Sierra Hills Memorial Park, Sacramento, CA.
