Pfc. William Day Sandve

 

 

WOUNDED

ELLSWORTH—Marine Pfc. William Day Sandve, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Sandve of Scott township, was wounded during the invasion of Saipan, his parents have been notified. The Sandves formerly lived in Ellsworth.

William Day Sandve was born Dec. 1, 1915 to Jacob Williamson and Hanna Olene Hanson Sandve. He died July 23, 1991 and is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Randall, IA.

Pvt. Sandve was WIA in the Marianas during the invasion of Saipan. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Marine Division.
