Burton L. Rocky, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.I. Rocky, 1614 W. Sixth Street, has arrived at Branch agricultural college, Cedar City, Utah for five-month instruction prior to appointment as an army aviation cadet.

Burton L. Rocky Is Commissioned Second Lieutenant

Burton L. Rocky received his commission as second lieutenant and pilot’s wings at graduation exercises at the advanced flying school at Luke field, Phoenix, Ariz., recently. Lieut. Rocky took his basic training at Kearns, Utah, college training at Cedar City, Utah, and flight instruction at Santa Ana, California and Eagle field, Das Polis, California. Lieut. Rocky is to be an instructor.

With his wife and 3-month-old son Gary, Lieut. Rocky is expected Wednesday to spend a 13- day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.I. Rocky, 1614 W. Sixth Street and with Mrs. Rocky’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Olney, 1119 Nebraska Street. Mrs. Rocky is the former Maxine Olney.

Burton L. Rocky was born June 1, 1923 to Arthur and Selma Otteson Rocky. He died Feb. 9, 1967 and is buried in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
