AredalePvt. Merlyn Richard of the Coast Artillery is home to spend a 12-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Richard. Merlyn was inducted Oct. 19, 1941. He went overseas in May, 1942, and had been stationed at Trinidad, British West Indies, since. This is his first furlough since entering the service.

Private Richard has two brothers in the service.  Staff Sgt. Jeane Richard is a gunner on a bomber in the South Pacific. He is back in combat after being wounded in February over Rabaul. 

Sgt. Lester Richard is stationed at Camp Muroc, Cal. Another brother, Walter, expects to enter the service soon.
