KSCJ Newscast Is Heard in Africa by Sioux Cityan

Among Americans now in the North Africa War Theater is Private Wilbur Reed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Reed, 717 Jones Street, and if those still at home could see that country they’d appreciate the United States more than ever, Private Reed told his parents in a letter received today.

Reed, who is in the medical corps, left here last April 19, and arrived in England August 16, later he was in Scotland and the letter received today was the first the parents has received from him since October 4. The letter today was mailed on November 17.

Private Reed told of hearing a “news from home” broadcast by short wave from the United States which included a transcription made by KSCJ announcers. The transcriptions consist of two minutes of local news and two minutes of sports news. He also listened to a broadcast of the Army-Notre Dame football game.
