1st Lt. Pitsenbarger is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial, Cambridgeshire, England and memorialized at West Linn Cemetery, Linden, IA.

Lt. Pitsenbarger served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 857th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, Heavy. He was awarded the Air Medal.
