Maj. Edward L. Peoples, Sioux Cityan, serving overseas, recently received promotion to the rank of major while serving in the south Pacific War Theater. Maj. Peoples, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Peoples, who recently moved from Sioux City to Burlingame, California, is a graduate of East High School. He attended Iowa State College at Ames, where three years ago he received appointment in the Marine Corps with the rank of second lieutenant. Subsequent advanced training was at Philadelphia navy yard; the defense weapons school at Quantico, Virginia, Camp Elliott, California, where in 1942 he received his captain’s rank, and San Diego. His wife, whom he married in April 1942, now is visiting in Remsen, Iowa.
