SEAMAN KILLED IN PACIFIC AREA

Kenneth Olson Was on Shipboard 3 Months

Kanawha -- Word was received Thursday by Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Olson of Kanawha, that their son, Kenneth Leo Olson, fireman 1/c of the navy, was killed in action in the south Pacific theater.

He was 20 years of age on Oct 14, 1944 and had been in in service since October, 1943, receiving his boot training at Farragut, Idaho.

He had been on shipboard for 3 months.

Kenneth Leo Olson was born Oct. 14, 1924 to Arthur E. and Sadie Leona Miller Olson. He died Dec. 7, 1944 and is buried in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha, IA.

Petty Officer Olson served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was KIA in the Leyte Gulf while in the service of his country.
