James E. O’Connor was born Sept. 26, 1920 to James D. and Hazel M. Mason O’Connor. He died Mar. 13, 1944.

Sgt. O’Connor served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps and was KIA over the English Channel near Boulogne, France. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Sgt. O’Connor is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium and was credited with being awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. He has a marker in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, IA with the information that he was awarded the Purple Heart.
