Lt. Howard E. Nuessle

 

 

Ex-Central High Pupil Is Killed in Italian Area

Lieut. Howard E. Nuessle, 29, machine gunner, was killed in action April 11 in Italy, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Nuessle of Los Angeles, former resident of Sioux City, have been informed. Lieut. Nuessle spent most of his life in Sioux City and attended Central High School. He joined the army in 1935 and was sent to Italy early this year. Survivors are the parents, a brother, Dale, U.S.N., somewhere in the Pacific and two sisters, Mrs. Gordon Melton of Los Angeles and Mrs. C.F. Reibe, 4311 Harrison Street.

Howard Edward Nuessle was born Sept. 8, 1914 to Joseph Albert and Ellen Bornholtz Nuessle. He died Apr. 11, 1944 and is buried in Little Rock National Cemetery, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Lt. Nuessle served in World War II with the U.S. Army 179th Infantry, 45th Division and was KIA in Italy.
