Five service flags hang in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Nelson, 1213 ½ Iowa Street, representing their sons in the armed forces. The oldest of the five brothers, Sgt. Myron A. Nelson, 20, is now serving in the 25th tank battalion of the Seventh army in Germany. He entered the service in December, 1942 and recently was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in Germany. The medal has been sent to his wife and daughter Sandra Ann, living at 1126 S. Helen Street

In December 1944, Pvt. Orville W. Nelson, 26, entered the army air corps and is attending gunnery and navy school at Lowry field, Colorado. Before entering the service, he was employed by Douglas Aircraft Corporation in California. Mrs. Nelson is residing with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Wheelock, 1301 S. Paxton Street.

Roy J. Nelson, machinist mate second class, enlisted in the coast guard March, 1943, in California and is stationed somewhere in the south Pacific. Before entering the service, he was employed by the United States Motors Company in Los Angeles. Donald N. Nelson, boatsmate second class, 21, is the youngest, but nonetheless, has seen the most action. He enlisted in February, 1941 and was in Pearl Harbor when attacked. Since that time he has taken part in many naval battles. At present he is stationed on the Marianas Island. He was home on leave but once, in September 1944.
