SGT. NEESSEN DIED FEB. 10

W. C. Soldier Killed in Air Crash at Brentwood, England.

S/Sgt. Thomas Neessen, 28, son of Mrs. Sophia Neessen of this city was killed Feb. 10, in an airplane crash at Brentwood, England, his mother has been notified.

The sergeant was radio operator on a troop carrier, having enlisted Sept. 17, 1942. He went overseas May 5, 1943, and served in Africa and Italy before being transferred to England.

Surviving besides his mother are three sisters, Mrs. Evard Mossmanm, Doris and Jean, all of Webster City and two brothers, Jim of Webster City who is leaving for service this month, and Lt. William Neessen, Alamogordo, N. Mex.

Mrs. Neessen is formerly of Grundy Center, having moved here last spring to take over the management of Brown’s Cafe.

Thomas Henry Neessen was born Feb. 19, 1916 to Hienie ‘Henry’ and Sophia Frerichs Neessen. He died Feb. 10, 1945 and is buried in Fort Dodge Memorial Park, Fort Dodge, IA.

Sgt. Neessen served with the 53rd Army Air Force Troop Carrier Squadron.
