Lt. Peter B. Narey

Spirit Lake, Iowa – Peter B. Narey, a second lieutenant in the army, arrived home from Fort Benning, Georgia, for a week’s visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Narey. He was graduated Wednesday for the “Officers” training school at Fort Benning and will report to the base at Waco, Texas for his command. Lieut. Narey completed his preliminary training at the University of Iowa in December.

Peter Bergman “Pete” Narey was born May 15, 1920 to Harry Elsworth and Esther Ann Bergman Narey. He died Oct. 24, 2008 and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Spirit Lake, IA. 

Pete was tapped for a select military intelligence team that was charged with decoding German messages and was stationed in London, France and Germany. The Mission, Ultra, was ultimately credited with helping to lead to Allied victory. After the war, Pete served in the Pentagon before completing his law degree.
