TEMPO OF WAR SPEEDS UP IN SIOUX COUNTY
Largest Groups Of Men Sent From Orange City In Many Months, Many Farmers Included
A large contingent of Sioux County selectees left Orange City on Feb. 14 for induction into the armed forces.  The group, which was the largest that has been called into service for many months, included the following men:

The C. E. members of the Carmel church held a farewell party at the church basement on Monday evening in honor of one of their members, Melvin Mouw, who leaves for the service on Wednesday of this week.

Pvt. Melvin Mouw arrived at the parental John Mouw home on Friday to spend a 15 day furlough at home.  Melvin entered the service last April 11 and this is his first furlough at home.  He has been in training at Camp Livingston, La. and will now report at Fort Riley, Kansas for further orders, leaving here again next week Monday.

On Tuesday evening the marriage took place of Pvt. Melvin Mouw and Miss Mina Feekes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Feekes, at the home of the bride's parents.  Rev. Harmelink of Carmel officiated at the ceremony in the presence of the immediate family of the bride and groom.  The bride wore a street length dress of sky blue and the groom wore his army uniform. The groom left again on Tuesday to report at the west coast after enjoying a week's furlough at home.

Pvt. Melvin J. Mouw, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Mouw of Sioux Center has been in the service since April of this year. He was recently home on furlough after having received his training a t Camp Livingston, La. He was then stationed at Camp Stoneman, Calif. for a few weeks waiting for a boat to go overseas.  His address is: 37794283, Casual Co. No. 49, APO 21326, c/o Postmaster, San Francisco, Calif.

FIVE SIOUX COUNTY BOYS ARRIVE IN TOKYO
Private Theodore Van Voorst has arrived in Yokohama, Oct. 19, from there he went to Tokyo where he is now stationed.  Theodore is one of five Sioux County boys who have been together since they entered the service last April.  The others are Pvt. Wilbur J. Vande Brake and Pvt . Dick Van Gelder of Orange City, Melvin Mouw of Sioux Center and Martin Wynia of Ireton.  They entered the service together last April 11 and have been in the same company during their 17 weeks training period stationed at Camp Livingston, La. and have gone overseas together and are now in the 189th Quartermaster Gas Supply Co. of the 8th army.
