Lt. Fred E. Mincks, Jr.

 

 

Fred Edward Mincks, Jr. was born Feb. 10, 1918 to Fred (Sr.) and Nettie Smead Mincks. He died Aug. 25, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England and has a cenotaph in Avon Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Lt. Mincks served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 705th Bomber Squadron, 446th Bomber Group, Heavy and was MIA/FOD/KIA when his plane crashed into the North Sea. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
