Lt. William J. Matteson

First Lt. William J. Matteson, 21 year-old lead bombardier on a B-17 Flying Fortress, has been awarded an Oak Leaf Cluster to his distinguished flying cross. The flier’s wife, Mary Jean, lives at 2704 Myrtle Street. He is a veteran of more than 25 major Eighth air force attacks. The officer holds the air medal with four oak leaf clusters.
