Pvt. Ira Myhre

 

 

SUPREME SACRIFICE --Pvt. Ira Myhre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Myhre of Hanlontown, gave his life for his country in France June 30. His wife, who lives in Forest City, recently received the purple heart which was awarded to him posthumously. Pvt Myhre was in the service about 2 years.

Ira Burton Myhre was born Oct. 9, 1916 to August and Caroline Myhre. He died June 30, 1944 and has a cenotaph in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA.

Ira served in World War II with the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division, 36th Infantry and was KIA in France.
