John Rolla Morgart was born June 3, 1927 to Rollie and Anna Morgart. He died Sept. 15, 1965 and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Marshalltown, IA.

OBITUARY:

JEWELL — John R. Morgart, 38, died suddenly yesterday afternoon upon arrival at the Story City Memorial hospital. Death was caused by a heart attack suffered at his home in Jewell.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Becker Funeral home with Howard Anthony officiating at the service. Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery at Marshalltown. There will be graveside services at Marshalltown at 3:30 p.m.

John Rolla Morgart, son of Rollie and Anna L. Morgart was born June 3, 1927, at Newburg, Iowa. He resided there and at Green Mountain, Marhsalltown and Conrad before moving to Jewell about 11 years ago.

Sept. 13, 1945, he was married to Lisa Jane Nablo, at Marshalltown.

He served in World War II for 15 months, being discharged from service Sept. 21, 1945. He had owned and operated the L and M Implement firm at Jewell until recently. He had more recently been employed as a salesman for Rock Implement Co. at Eldora.

He was a member of the South Hamilton Community school board and was a former mayor and city council member, of Jewell.

He is survived by his wife and eight children: William John, Vernon Rollie, Darlene Jane, Jerry Ray, Rose Ellen, Mary Joann, Kevin Roger and Marvin Roy, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Anna Morgart, Union, Iowa, one brother, Wayne Morgart of Union, and one sister, Martha Morgart of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Florence, and a brother, Donald, who died in service during World War II.
