James L. Mitchell was born Feb. 6, 1921 to Fred and Adaline Mitchell. He died Jan. 5, 1944 and is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge, England.
Sgt. Mitchell served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 367th Bomber Squadron, 306th Bomber Group, Heavy and was KIA in the European Theatre of Operations. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Air Medal.
