Pete Svanti Mellgren was born May 26, 1908 and died Oct. 27, 1987. He is buried in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines, IA. Pete served with the U.S. Navy amphibious fleet aboard the LST 276 and LST 969 and aboard the USS Belle Grove (LSD-2).
His parents were Hans J. and Sarah M. Sexe Mellgren, who had three sons serving their country in World War II.
