These Iowans, like those pictured here on previous Sundays, have given their lives for their country. They were fatally wounded in combat or died in prison camps. The fourth line under each name designates the war area in which the man last served.

Eldo Fred Meier was born Oct. 15 , 1918 to Carl J. and Alma Schaefer Meier. He died Sept. 25, 1943 and is buried in Saint Pauls Lutheran Cemetery, Artesian, IA.
Pvt. Meier served in World War II with the U.S. Army and died of wounds suffered in battle in the North African campaign.
