Major Harold Mears

Maj. Harold Mears, Former Resident of City, Visits Here

The grim business of winning the war was combined with the agreeable pastime of meeting old friends and renewing old acquaintances by Maj. Harold Mears on a recent visit to the Sioux City army air base.

Maj. Mears claims Sioux City as his home town although his recent visit was the first in 21 years. He attended what now is Central High School here and completed his education in California. Since that time, he has had a long and interesting career in the nation’s armed forces. He first served an enlistment in the marine corps, then entered the army.

At present he is attached to the 18th wing with headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. A brother, Edward L. Mears, lives at 616 16th Street. The major declared that he could notice only a few changes in the “Old Home Town,” but that he was able to find only a few of his former friends.
