Sgt. William Raymond McGinnis

 

 

 

William Raymond McGinnis was born Aug. 14, 1923 to Joseph O. and Susie Morrett McGinnis. He died Aug. 9, 1944 and is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.

Sgt. McGinnis served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 524th Bomb Squadron, 379th Bomb Group as a nose gunner of a B-17 type aircraft which was lost on 9 Aug. 1944 when it received a direct hit from anti-aircraft fire over Aachen, Germany. He was declared MIA/KIA/FOD and was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf clusters.
