Robert Elston McCollough was born Sept. 30, 1922. He died July 25, 1966 in Tustin, CA.

Robert served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic war zones.

Robert McCollough, 73, Tustin, Calif., and former longtime resident of Webster City, died July 25, 1996, at his home. The body was cremated and burial will be at sea in a private ceremony. A memorial service will be held at his home in Tustin on August 10.

Robert (Bob) E. McCollough, son of James E. and Ethel Becker McCollough, was born Sept. 30, 1922, on a farm west of Webster City. He attended Freedom No. 2 rural school and graduated from Webster City High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 in the Asiatic war zones. After his discharge, he returned to his occupation of truck driver for several area livestock and freight lines. In 1948, the family moved to southern California, where he was employed by the city of Santa Ana. He retired in 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; daughter, Rebecca Harris, Tustin, Calif., sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lois McCollough, Escondido, Calif., Donald McCollough, Madrid, grandchildren, Jeffry Harris, Julia and Laura McCollough; sisters, Margaret Lemon, Helen Norris, both of Des Moines; Philis Fletchall, Webster City; and several brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Danny, James, Jack; and sister, Bettie Lee.

Mr. McCollough was a 51 year member of the Webster City Post 191 of the American Legion.
