3 Sons, Son-In-Law Of This Sioux City Couple in Service


Three sons and a son-in-law in service is the record of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Manzer, 119 W. Third Street.

The eldest son, Private Leo Manzer, is stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Corporal Robert Manzer is stationed at Lowry field, Colorado, and the youngest son, William L. Manzer, 18, is spending a leave with his parents after completing boot training at Farragut, Idaho.

The son-in-law, Private First Class Vernon Fleck, also is stationed at Fort Leavenworth.

Robert Francis Manzer was born Mar. 6, 1920 to Lawrence E. and Lucy Belle Hay Manzer. He died Dec. 2, 1944 and is buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Sgt. Manzeer served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 346th Bomb Squadron, 99th Bomb Group, 15th Air Force and was MIA/KIA/FOD in Germany.
