S. Sgt. John K. Malone Killed

He Was Member of Veteran B-24 Liberator Group


S. Sgt. John K. Malone, 21, of Union City, Ind., was killed in action October 17, his father, E.D. Malone, 1715 Summit Street, has been informed by the War Department. He was a member of a veteran B-24 Liberator heavy bombardment group, stationed in Italy, which twice was cited by the president of the United States.

Sgt. Malone, a ball turret gunner on a heavy bomber, entered the service in February, 1943. Before entering the service he was employed as an aircraft control installer, He had been awarded the European-African-middle eastern campaign ribbon, and the good conduct medal for exemplary behavior, fidelity and efficiency.
