Loren served with the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard the USS Carter (DE-112).

John Edwin Maland was born May 14, 1921. He died Feb. 22, 2012 and is buried in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.

Electrician’s Mate First Class Maland served with the U.S. Navy in World War II with the 3rd Fleet Amphibious Squadron in the Battle of Pelelieu Islands in the Pacific.
