Sioux Cityan Director of Recreation at Kankakee

Ted W. Macur, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Macur, 2503 Indiana Avenue, has been named director of public recreation in Kankakee, Illinois.

Mr. Macur is a graduate of East High School and Morningside College. He worked in the Sioux City recreation department as playground director and social center worker four years before entering the navy in 1942.

He served in the navy air corps as a pilot for 19 months, 12 of which he spent overseas, before he was grounded because of a leg injury and assigned to duty as a recreation and welfare officer. He was discharged in December, 1945.

Mr. Macur attended the national recreation congress at Atlantic City, N.J., earlier this month. He will take over his duties immediately at Kankakee.
