Pfc. Howard W. Lucas

 


 

 

DIES ON LEYTE -- Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lucas of Manly received word from the war department that their son, Pfc. Howard W. Lucas, was killed in action on Leyte Dec. 20. The young man was born and reared in the Manly vicinity and spent his entire life there until entering the service.

Howard Walter Lucas was born Aug. 26, 1914 to Charles and Lottie Sophia Lucas. He died Dec. 21, 1944 and is buried in Manly Cemetery, Manly, IA.

Pvt. Lucas served in World War II with the U.S. Army 127th Infantry, 32nd Division and was KIA on Leyte, Philippine Islands.
