Sgt. William John Longer

 

 

Jack Delbert Longer was born Mar. 10, 1923 to Fred J. and Kathryn G. Longer. He died Apr. 22, 1945 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines and has a cenotaph at Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington, IA.

Cpl. Longer served in World War II with the U.S. Army 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division and was KIA in Luzon, Philippine Islands. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Sgt. Longer served in World War II with the U.S. Army 125th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron and was KIA in Meek, Germany. He was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
