Ensign Melvin Lester

 

 

 

Melvin Lester, “Mel” Lester, was born Apr. 19, 1923 to Lawrence Hauman and Bernice Christina Bubeck Lester. He died Sept. 27, 2005 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion, IA.

Ensign Lester served with the U.S. Naval Air Corps in World War II. He was assigned to Corry Field, an auxiliary field to the Pensacola Naval Air Station. He was appointed Safety Officer and began instructing pilots on flying twin-engine aircraft.
