Ralph Charles Latch was born Aug. 21, 1923 to Charles H. and Edna Schoon Latch. He died Mar. 9, 2005.

Ralph served with the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard a submarine in the Pacific Theatre of Action.

Ralph C. Latch, 81, of Webster City, a former Williams resident, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at the Hamilton Hospital. His body was donated to the Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center. Private services will be held at a later date.

Ralph Charles Latch, son of Charles and Edna Schoon Latch, was born August 21, 1923 on a farm in Hardin County near Iowa Falls. He received his education in that area. During W.W. II, he served with the U S Navy in the Pacific Theatre of Action. He served on a Navy submarine. On September 1, 1946, he married Leola Weedman. The couple farmed in the Webster City area. He also worked at a Webster City service station. In the late 1950’s, he started working with the Department of Transportation of Iowa and in the 1960’s they moved to Williams. Leola Latch died in August of 1980. On May 2, 1981, he married Donna Erickson Pruismann at Blairsburg. The couple resided at Williams. He retired from the D.O.T. in 1987. He had resided at Southfield Wellness Community since March of 2002.

Mr. Latch is survived by his wife, Donna, step-children, Dan and Debbie Pruismann and Marlin and Kathy Pruismann, all of Blairsburg, Helen and Joe Melichar of Cedar Falls; 8 step-grandchildren; a sister at Boone, nephew, Rod Latch of Cedar Falls; niece, Valerie Crooks of Ionia. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Latch.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #635 at Williams, a former member of the Webster City and Williams Fire Department and was a member of the Alamo Masonic Lodge #176 - A.F. and A.M. at Williams.
