Stanley Andrew Larson was born June 16, 1924 to Andrew O. and Elizabeth Mary ‘Mary’ Knudson Larson. He died Feb. 13, 2010 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell, IA.

Sgt. Larson served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Stanley Larson, age 85, of Story City, a long time Jewell resident, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at a later date. Friends may call one hour prior to service time at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell and the Bethany Life Communities Chaplaincy Fund in Story City.

Stanley Andrew Larson was born in Jewell on June 16, 1924 to Andrew O and Elizabeth Mary (Knudson) Larson. Stanley graduated from Randall High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On December 2, 1967 Stanley married Erma Engelby in Jewell. Stanley farmed near Jewell for 40 years. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell, he was a 30 year member of the American Legion Post #550 in Jewell, and he was a member of the Jewell Lions Club.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Erma Larson of Story City; step-son, Leon Mondell (Bonnie) Engelby of Henderson, Nevada; daughter, Cheryl Ann (Mike) Stubbins of Menifee, California; granddaughter, Aubrey Anne Engelby; and great granddaughter, Hayli Noel Rhoton. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sterling Larson.
