Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II.

Carl Christian Knudsen was born Sept. 13, 1916 to Chris C. and Dorthea Nelson Knudsen. He died Aug. 28, 1944 and is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Algona, IA.

Pvt. Knudsen served in World War II with the U.S. Army 818th Tank Destroyer Battalion and was KIA in France.
