Eugene T. Knitter

Eugene T. Knitter, aerial engineer gunner, whose wife, Mrs. Jessie H. Knitter, lives at 913 ½ Nebraska Street, has been promoted from staff sergeant to technical sergeant. He is a member of a B-12 unit of the 15th air force, in Italy. Sgt. Knitter joined the army December 23, 1942 and received his gunner’s wings May 13, 1943 at Las Vegas, Nevada. He is a graduate of the army air force technical school at Amarillo, Texas. He flew his first mission over the Ploesti oil fields in Romania, June 13, 1944 and has taken part in 32 such missions and has been awarded the air medal and the European-African-middle west theater ribbon.
