Nile Clarke Kinnick, Jr.

Nile Clarke Kinnick, Jr. was born July 9, 1918 to Nile Clark (Sr.) and Frances Ada Clarke Kinnick. He died June 2, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, East Coast Memorial, Manhattan, NY.

Legendary college football player and Heisman Trophy winner for the University of Iowa, Ensign Kinnick was a Navy pilot in World War II and served aboard the USS Lexington (CV-2) and was MIA on a training flight off the coast of Venezuela in the Gulf of Paria. His body was never recovered.

Kinnick Stadium at the University of Iowa in Iowa City is named in his honor.
