Lt. Benjamin G. Kinnick

 

 

Benjamin Greene Kinnick was born Apr. 1, 1919 to Nile Clark and Frances Ada Clarke Kinnick. He died Sept. 16, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City Philippines.

1st Lt. Kinnick served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and was MIA in the South Pacific when his B-25 Mitchell bomber was shot down over New Ireland. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

His wife, Lt. Eleanor Ada White Kinnick was born in Sept. 18, 1920 in Council Bluffs, IA to Albert Maines and Dorothea Catherine Spetman White. She died Apr. 5, 2016 and is buried in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Mahtomedi, MN. Lt. White served with the U.S. Navy Eastern Sea Frontier Headquarters, New York City, NY and with the U.S. Naval Air Base, Glenview, IL. After Lt. Kinnick’s death she was married to William W. Butler.
