Lt. Dale C. Killion

 

Dale C. Killion was born Apr. 30, 1921. He died Jan. 5, 1944 and is buried in Zachary Taylor National Cemetery, Louisville, KY. He was initially buried in Cambridge, England and repatriated to the U.S. in 1949.

Lt. Killion served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 526th Bomber Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, Heavy and was KIA when the B-17 he was on had just taken off from Molesworth/Sta. 107 in England for a bombing raid in Germany and was assembling into flight formation when they were involved in a mid-air collision and crashed at Catworth, Cambridgeshire, England. All twenty airmen aboard both planes were killed. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
