Sgt. Doyle Kelso

 

 

 

SERGEANT KELSO WOUNDED APRIL 7 ON GERMAN FRONT

Williams—Sgt. Doyle Kelso of Williams, serving with the 42nd (Rainbow) division of the Seventh Army, was wounded in action in Germany, on April 7, according to word received here by his wife, the former Lenore Westwick and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Z. C. Kelso.

He has been awarded the Purple Heart and also holds the infantryman’s combat badge.

A veteran of three year’s service, Sergeant Kelso has been overseas since November, 1944. He previously had served 18 months in the Aleutian islands.

NOTES:

Doyle Don Kelso was born June 4, 1920 to Zenas Cicero ‘Z. C.’ and Nancy LaVerda Brown Kelso. He died Sept. 16, 1991 and is buried in the Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, IA.

Sgt. Kelso was awarded the Purple Heart, three bronze campaign stars, the good conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific and ETO ribbons and the combat infantry badge.
