Vernon Wayne Kaster was born May 27, 1918 to Wayne and Ida Viola Glendenning Kaster. He died Jan. 29, 1943 (at sea) and was declared dead Jan. 30, 1944. He is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Kaster served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Chicago (CA-29) and was MIA/KIA during the Battle of Rennell Island and was awarded the Purple Heart.
