Eighty men from Kossuth county lost their lives while in the service of their country in World War II.

Harry J. Johnson was born about 1914 to Ben E. and Bertha Johnson. He died Oct. 23, 1943 and is buried in Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.

Pvt. Johnson served in World War II with the U.S. Army 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division and died in the service of his country and was awarded the Purple Heart.
