Meet in Hawaii

Ralph Johnson, seaman first class, U.S.N., (left) and Harold R. Johnson, seaman second class, Seabee, (right) met accidentally in Hawaii after a five-month separation. Before enlisting in the navy about six months ago, Harold attended West Junior School and Ralph, Leeds High School.

Private Arthur D. Johnson, a brother, is stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. His wife and baby, Mary Ellen, live at 1906 W. Third Street. The three brothers are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Johnson, 4331 Van Buren Street.

Arthur Donald Johnson was born May 12, 1920 to Edward Theodore and Laura Virgil Reid Johnson. He died Oct. 10, 1944 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.

Pvt. Johnson served in World War II with the U.S Army 137th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division and was KIA and awarded the Purple Heart.
