3 Letter Carriers Enlist;
Unworried About Carrying Packs

DES MOINES, (AP) – At least three men who enlisted in the army here are not worrying about marching with packs on their backs. The three – Oliver Whitmarsh, 27, Keith Skidmore, 30, and Bob Jacobson, 26 – are Des Moines mail carriers and figured out that the army pack is just about the same weight as a full mail bag.

Robert Louis “Bob" Jacobson was born July 30, 1915 to Isaac Mose and Rose Carpe Jacobson. He died Dec. 12, 1983 and is buried in Jewish Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, IA.

Robert served with the U.S. Army in World War II.
