Chaplain Joseph Lyell Frederick “Pastor Joe” Huseth

 

 

 

 

 

 

Joseph Lyell Frederick “Pastor Joe” Huseth was born July 1, 1926 to Halvor F. and Selma Huseth. He died May 15, 2015, and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Chaplain Huseth was part of the 2nd Armored Division in Europe during the later part of WWII. He was again called to service in Korea where he was wounded twice and received 2 Purple Hearts plus the Silver Star for gallantry in action. He once again volunteered for active duty and was sent to Vietnam in 1966. As a military chaplain he had tours of duty in Missouri, Germany, New York, Arizona and Korea before retiring in 1983 after 22 years of service.

His tombstone shows service in World War II, Korea and Vietnam and that he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Oak Leaf Cluster.
