Gail Ray Hunter was born Dec. 21, 1919 to Ralph and Frances Barnett Hunter, He died June 8, 1944 and is buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
Sgt. Hunter served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 558th Bomber Squadron 387th Bomb Group, Medium and was MIA/KIA in the European area. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart and Air Medal with 9 Oak Leaf Clusters.
