Gordon Herbert Holstrum was born Dec. 27, 1909 to Victor Arthur and Mary Gertrude ‘Gertie’ Swedlund Holstrum. He died Feb. 24, 1983 and is buried in South Marion Cemetery, Stratford, IA.

Pvt. Holstrum served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

STRATFORD—Gordon Herbert Holstrum, 73, of Fort Dodge died at his home Thursday. Funeral services were held Monday at 12:30 p.m. at the South Marion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Burial was at the South Marion Cemetery. Hanson-Stark-Welin Funeral Home has been in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter and two sons, Norma Phipps of Sioux Falls, S.D., Marlow Holstrum of Rockford, Ill., and Gary Holstrum of New York City; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Hazel (Mrs. Vernie) Carlberg and Audrey (Mrs. Wilhelm) Carlson, both of Stratford, and Ione (Mrs. Don) Jones of Boone, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Holstrum was born Dec. 27, 1909, near Stanhope, the son of Victor and Gertrude Holstrum. He farmed in the Stanhope-Stratford area and later operated a trucking and corn shelling business. He was a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
