Eugene J. Hiveley, 51, rural route 1, Lehigh, was pronounced dead on arrival at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Regional hospital at Fort Dodge following an apparent heart attack suffered at his home.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Roy Cox officiating and with burial in the Vegors cemetery near Lehigh. Military rites will be conducted there by the Lehigh VFW Post 5720.

Eugene Jess Hiveley, son of Lloyd and Elizabeth Bennett Hiveley, was born Jan. 16, 1926, at Duncombe where he was reared and educated.

He served during World War II with the U.S. Navy, being in service for four years.

He was united in marriage May 21, 1949 to Haroldine DeWitt, and the couple resided on a farm southeast of Lehigh.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Debra Hiveley, LeMars; a son, John J. Lively, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hiveley of Lehigh; three brothers and one sister, and several nieces and nephews.

He was baptized in the Methodist faith.
