Sgt. Delbert J. Hildreth

 

Sgt. D.J. Hildreth Killed in Action

Staff Sgt. Delbert Johnnie Hildreth, 27, was killed in action Apr. 12 in Germany, the war department has informed his wife, Maxine, 1443 E. Jefferson st.

Staff Sgt. Delbert J. Hildreth was employed at the Des Moines Ordnance plant before entering the army Aug. 3, 1943. He served nine months in anti-aircraft and then was transferred to the infantry. He went overseas last October.

Sergeant Hildreth was previously wounded Dec. 12, 1944, in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart at that time. He also was awarded the combat infantry badge.

Surviving besides his widow are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hildreth, Indianaola, Ia.; and a sister Norma, Des Moines.
