Memorial Service for Private “Bill” Hacker Here Sunday


A memorial service will be held for Private First Class William (Bill) Hacker, who was killed in action in Italy, April 17, at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Mayflower Congregational Church.

Private First Class Hacker was a son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Hacker, 2001 George Street. He served two and a half years in the army since leaving Sioux City with the National Guard unit. He has been overseas since January 27, 1942.

During the service, Rev. W.W. Witt will speak. There will be invocation, a reading from the scriptures, the singing of O God Beneath Thy Guiding Hand, a hymn; a prayer by Rev. Mr. Witt; singing of The Prayer Perfect by Norah Galvin with Ethel Jamison Booth, organist. The service will be concluded with the singing by the congregation of America.

William Borman Hacker was born Sept. 15, 1916 to Carl W. and Nora Hazel Thilo Hacker. He died Apr. 17, 1944 and is buried in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.
