Our Neighbors in the Services

Denison, IowaDr. A. H. Grau, physician and surgeon here has been commissioned as lieutenant commander in the naval reserve3 and will leave for duty in May. Dr. Grau is the second physician to volunteer from Denison. Dr. C.H. Fee, now a captain in the army air corps, has been in service since early last fall.

Amandus Herman “A. H.” Grau was born June 6, 1905 to G. Herman and Emma Kracht Grau. He died Nov. 1969 and is buried in Crawford Heights Memory Gardens, Denison, IA.

Dr. Grau served in World War II with the U.S. Navy. His Doberman Pinscher “Gretel” was the first dog from Denison to join the Army K-9’s.
